I am a female, 76 years old and under a lot of stress due to spouse's dementia. Does stress cause hair loss? Is there anything I can do to prevent hair loss besides taking biotin, which doesn't seem to being helping.

  • Hair loss can happen for lots of different reasons. Age, stress, medications can all be related to your hair loss. It's good that your using biotin. Continue to use it. I recommend using Nioxin. It's a 3 part system. The first is the cleanser (shampoo), second use the conditioner. Lastly, use the scalp treatment after you have towel dried your hair. You can buy the kit for around $40.00 at your local salon or at Ulta. They also sell their products separately. You should see new growth in about a month. They also make it for chemically treated hair such as permed or colored hair. I recommend it to all of my clients suffering hair loss. Good luck!!
