How Safe are Dental X-Rays?

by Dr. Joshua Davidson, Senior Dental Care Expert
November 16, 2018

Question: How safe are dental x-rays?

Answer: Years ago, dental x-rays were taken with film. Film is accurate just like a photograph, but developing an x-ray takes time. The advent of digital x-rays, which nearly every office offers, is fast; instantaneous results after pressing the button. Are digital x-rays harmful to our health? Probably not. Each digital x-ray dose is the equivalent of walking around on planet earth for about four days -much less radiation exposure than used for film.
