What is Cord Blood?

Question: Is cord blood fetal blood or maternal blood or mixed?

Answer: Cord blood is predominantly fetal blood. However at or near term when the cord blood is collected there is feto maternal passage of cells (8 weeks onwards with peak around 35-37 weeks) to boost immunity in both fetal and maternal system leading to initiation of labor.
