Moment of truth...
By honey's child on November 22, 2014 - 09:16 PM

I have been caring for my dad since 2009 almost everyday, give or take a few days. He was recently hospitalized due to a reaction to an antibiotic prescribed by his doctor and though I've been at the hospital daily, I have been enjoying the ride home alone; alone with my thoughts, my list of things to do....for me, and just alone knowing that he is totally taken care of, resting, eating well and just o.k. I have been enjoying this time and I don't feel bad about it. Being in a routine, you just go go go, but this woosah moment was needed....I will be refreshed and ready for the days to come! Has anyone else had this moment of truth?

  • What a woosah moment you had! You know that statement from air travel, "Put your oxygen mask on before you help others" is so critical to discover and remember, particularly in caregiving. Why not celebrate your discovery and do something special? I also write notes about my moments of respite in a journal, so I remember to use my oxygen mask first, at least once in awhile. -Margery Pabst, eCareDiary's Caregiving Expert By Susan Baida on March 18, 2015 - 09:51 AM Reply | Report Comment
