Is Running a Good Exercise for Seniors Beginning an Exercise Regime?

by Dr. Mat Parker, Successful Aging Expert
December 16, 2019

Question: Is running a good exercise for a senior who has never exercised?

Answer:

If you are a senior who has never exercised I would recommend a walking and strength program prior to starting any sort of running. I would also recommend seeing a physical therapist to assess your strength and any previous injury history. A physical therapist will be able to get you on a program that's customized for you, so if you do want to run you'll be prepared and you'll be safe.
