Is Gastroparesis Progressive?

by Crystal Saltrelli, Gastroparesis Expert

Question: Is gastroparesis progressive?

Answer:

Gastroparesis itself is not a progressive condition.  For some people the symptoms dobecome more severe over time, but others may experience no significant change or even an improvement or resolution of their symptoms.  Currently, we don't know for sure why some people get worse and others do not.  In my experience, the poor nutrition and chronic stress that often comes from trying to manage the condition can play a role in worsening symptoms and a decline in overall health.  That's why I encourage everyone who is diagnosed to implement a comprehensive management plan, as described in the interview.
