Question: Does a strength training workout regime need to be followed on a daily basis?
Answer: No, in fact, strength training on a daily basis is likely to be too stressful and could actually produce worse results, especially over the long term. Assuming they are training to muscular failure, a beginner can tolerate ~3 training sessions per week. As they get stronger, they will find that it will be more productive for them to reduce to 2 times or once a week to allow for sufficient recovery between sessions.
