Strength Training Without Equipment

by Lawrence Neal, Strength Training Expert

Question: Is it possible to opt for strength training without any equipment?

Answer:

Yes, strength training can be done with bodyweight only using exercises like bodyweight squats, push ups, and bodyweight rows. An excellent resource on progressive bodyweight strength training is Drew Baye's, Project Kratos: http://baye.com/store/project-kratos/. Drew provides an excellent progression system that will help inexperienced trainees find a workout they can perform and progress with over time. However, I think that bodyweight training, unless you're advanced, should be a last resort for inexperienced seniors. The most logical approach is to find a local HIT studio or train with machines at a local gym. If both of those options are not available, train at home.
