eCareDiary.com was featured in a recent Wall Street Journal article by Personal Finance writer, Anne Tergesen, on how social-networking has expanded its reach to include families caring for their elder loved ones. A survey by the National Alliance for Caregiving and AARP has revealed some astounding facts about modern-day caregiving. As the article states, “almost 70% of caregivers depend on their inner circle of families and friends to create support groups for ailing loved ones.” Eldercare websites are focused on serving this particular market of self-reliant caregivers, by offering an array of tools and forums.

The article, “Sending Out an Elder-Care SOS”, highlights websites like eCareDiary.com that makes life simpler for the caregiver by providing not just information but tools and resources to help create an economic, efficient and easy way of dealing with the stresses, that are part and parcel of the caring process. With eldercare websites, people can now deal with the key problem of communication through message boards, blogs and interactive calendars.

eCareDiary.com’s primary tool is the Care Diary which allows members to set up a private online calendar to track doctors’ appointments and medications, store records and start a personal blog community to ensure families remain connected and involved in the lives of their seniors. In addition, it also provides information on Medicare and state databases of resources including assisted-living facilities and home-health agencies.

With aging baby boomers on the rise, it’s no wonder the movement to make the caregiving journey easier is gaining traction and eldercare websites with caregivers as their focus point, are here to stay.
