Our Mission
Care Diary is a website created based on the founder’s, John Mills, experience as a caregiver for his father who suffered from Parkinson’s Disease. Having spent over 20 years working in the health care system, John found coordinating long term care to be difficult because of the lack of good information. eCare Diary provides comprehensive information, tools and resources to help those seeking and providing long term care. A unique feature is our Care Diary, a set of online tools designed to make coordination of care and sharing of information easy amongst family members and other caregivers. eCare Diary also has a comprehensive database of nursing home and home care services, guides on long term care financing and information on important health care documents everyone should have. The site will continue to grow and more information and tools will be added in the months ahead. We hope eCare Diary helps simplify your situation by providing you the tools and information you need. Susan Baida, Co-founder & President
Susan Baida, eCareDiary.com’s co-founder and President, brings to the company a wealth of experience in consumer and on-line marketing. She is responsible for business strategy and all facets of marketing, including identifying new tools and services for the site, partnerships, social media, advertising, public relations, and community outreach. Most recently, Susan was Vice President of Brand Marketing at Starwood Hotels and held key marketing positions with Estee Lauder Companies, Avon Products and Del Laboratories. Considered a subject matter expert in brand marketing, she is regularly invited to speak at forums sponsored by Harvard University and Wharton Business School.
Susan knows first-hand the challenges of caring for elderly parents and family members with serious illnesses. For 8 years, she cared for her paternal grandmother who suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis. She also coordinates care for her parents; her father suffers from Type II diabetes and is partially blind, and her mother recently underwent foot surgery that left her debilitated for several months. She and her husband, John Mills, cared for his father during his final years with Parkinson’s disease, an experience that led to the founding of eCareDiary.com. Susan was appointed to Manhattan Community Board 5 in 2002 and served as the Chair of the Human Services Committee, which addresses issues pertaining to the elderly, healthcare, education and social justice. She has written numerous resolutions to help improve services for the elderly and was honored by the Manhattan Borough President for her efforts to address public school overcrowding. She is a graduate of Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
John Mills, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board
John Mills, the founder of eCare Diary, has over 20 years experience in the health care field having focused on health care policy, technology and insurance product development. He brings a unique perspective to the issues of long term care and is using them to develop a website designed to address caregiver’s needs. John has worked in the health care technology business having been a key team member at MyHealthBank, a start-up company specializing in health care software and technology. He developed the first set of online tools for HIP Health Plan, a regional insurer in New York City, to help members obtain health care information and manage their own health care, He also introduced new insurance products and managed the product launch of EmblemHealth, a new corporate brand.
John spent close to a decade working on health care policy serving as Legislative Director to Congressman Eliot Engel of New York, a member of a key health care committee in the US House of Representatives. In this capacity, John served as the chief health policy aide to Congressman Engel and in 1993 was a member of President Clinton’s Task Force on Health Care Reform. John later worked on the Bi-Partisan Commission on Medicare Reform established by President Clinton in 1998. John has a Masters Degree in Public Policy with a specialization in health policy from Georgetown University in Washington, DC and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Union College in Schenectady, NY.
